Dixie Belle Van Dyke Brown Glaze

Painter’s tape

– Clean rags or microfiber cloths

I picked up this table at an estate sale. The owners were going to throw it away, but I saw the potential and brought it home for a makeover. There was quite a bit of damage to the wood and the feet, but it had such beautiful details that I knew it would make a great piece with some TLC.

Step 1: Prep

The very first thing I did with the table was inspect it for needed repairs. The only repairs needed were that the table feet were loose and needed new screws and tightening. After that, I cleaned it thoroughly with Dixie Belle White Lightning Cleaner, rinsed with clean water and dried with a microfiber cloth. After a good cleaning and repairs, I was ready to paint the table.

Step 2: Apply Paint

I turned the table upside down and taped off the feet with painter’s tape. I painted the table base with two coats of Dixie Belle Blue Chalk Mineral Paint, letting it dry in between coats. Once the base was dry, I turned the table right side up and painted the top and the rim with two coats of Dixie Belle Anchor Silk All-In-One Paint, letting it dry in between coats.

Step 3: Add Gold Accents & Decorative Transfers

Once the table was completely dry, I used a thin artist brush to apply the Dixie Belle Gold Gilding Wax in the details and grooves on the table base as well as the table feet, letting it dry thoroughly. I then cut out the desired floral patterns from the Redesign with Prima Transfer Set and applied them to the top of the table where I wanted them, using the provided stick to ensure adhesion.

Step 4: Seal With Glaze

After the table was painted and the transfers were added, I applied the Dixie Belle Van Dyke Brown Glaze over the entire table with a soft cloth; the base, the feet, and the top, buffing and wiping away excess glaze and adding more as necessary to seal the table and add dimension.

This table transformation is complete!  I think it turned out beautiful. What once was an old table that looked tired and outdated is now restored, refreshed, functional, and ready for its new home.

So, if you have an outdated piece of furniture gathering dust in your home, don’t worry. With these simple steps, you can transform it into something beautiful!
